In a black cast, brushed oak shows an open, flowing grain, with the full range of natural marks from board to board. A brushed surface has a more traditional, worked look. A protective matt lacquer means the surface shrugs off the odd splash, and the 2.5 mm wear layer leaves room to refinish rather than replace. At 2.2 m long, fewer end joints break up the floor. It's a straightforward, hard-working floor at heart.
